STEM Programs at Ardenwood ELEMENTARY

The Ardenwood PTA offers several math programs throughout the school year, from at-home challenges to an international competition hosted on campus.

Math Challenge

Fifteen sets of problems to solve at home, released every two weeks from October through May. Every challenge a student completes earns a chance to win prizes, and students who finish 12 or more earn a Certificate of Achievement at the end of the year.

Math Olympiad

A team program for 4th and 5th graders. Students practice problem solving together and compete as an Ardenwood team, as well as individuals, coached by PTA volunteers. This program is still recruiting volunteer coaches.

Math Kangaroo

2027 Math Kangaroo

An international math competition, hosted at Ardenwood. Students take the test at Ardenwood in the spring, and every registered student receives a gift and a ribbon.

 

Who can register

  • Students in grades K–5*
  • Kindergartners take the grade 1 test and must be able to read and work independently

 

Competition day

  • Date — March 22, 2027
  • Time — 3:30–4:45 pm
  • Where — Multipurpose room (MPR), Ardenwood School

 

Fees and deadlines

Late $35 January 1 – February 1, 2027

Note: No cancellations or refunds are offered after registration.

How to register

  1. Go to the Math Kangaroo registration site.
  2. Sign in with your username and password, or create an account if this is your first time.
  3. Click the "By Invitation" tab in the left-side menu or quick links panel.

  5. Fill out your child's information and school grade level.
  6. Add the registration to your cart and check out to secure your spot.

Gifts and awards

  • Every registered student — mathematical gifts and a participation ribbon on competition day
  • Top 10 in the country and top 3 in the state — medals, ribbons, and awards in May
  • Top 20 students — a special invitation to an educational webinar
